Xiaomi Redmi 8 announced with Snapdragon 439, 5000 mAh battery, & dual-camera

Following on from the Redmi 8A launch, the Xiaomi Redmi 8 tweaks the spec a little including an additional camera, more RAM and new storage options.

The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 439 chipset just like the Redmi 8A but the RAM options have been upgraded to 4GB RAM and up to 64GB storage.

For the display, you get a 6.22-inch HD+ IPS LCD with a notch for the 8MP F/2.0 selfie cam. On the rear is a new dual-camera setup with a main 12MP F/1.8 Sony IMX 363 sensor with 1.4μm sized pixels and dual PD. The second unit is a 2MP depth sensor.

There is also a fingerprint sensor located just below the dual camera.

You get a massive battery for such a low-end chipset, the 5,000 mAh cell should give you two days of use easily. You can then charge this via 18W fast charging but you only get a 10W adapter in the box.

The Redmi 8 will come in Sapphire Blue, Onyx Black and Ruby Red colours starting at INR 7,999 (£92) for the 3/32GB model while the 4/64 GB variant will go for INR 8,999 (£103). Sales in India are scheduled to begin at midnight on October 12 on Mi.com and Flipkart.

Companies like Eglobal and Toby deals are already listing the phone for £125.99 with 4GB/64GB
