You’ll Soon be Able to Transfer Photos, Videos From Facebook Directly to Google Photos – Droid Life

Because no one would blame you if you want to completely ditch Facebook these days, an upcoming tool (developed by Facebook), will allow you to quickly transfer all of your photos and videos from Facebook’s servers into your Google Photos account.

Currently, the service is live for users in Ireland, but Facebook expects the new tool to be available worldwide in the first half of 2020.

At Facebook, we believe that if you share data with one service, you should be able to move it to another. That’s the principle of data portability, which gives people control and choice while also encouraging innovation. Today, we’re releasing a tool that will enable Facebook users to transfer their Facebook photos and videos directly to other services, starting with Google Photos.

Facebook thinks this is about data portability, which is nice, but I see this as a way of ditching Facebook for good once I have all of my photos off of there without having to manually do the work. I’m woke, but still a lazy American after all.

As soon as this tool becomes live for the US, we’ll let you know.
